The University will offer up to 12 fellowships to outstanding international researchers whose work aligns with ��ݮ��Ƶ’s key goals and strategy.

��ݮ��Ƶ Sydney has announced the Green Fellowship initiative, an ambitious program to attract the world’s brightest academic minds and generate lasting global collaborations.

Named in honour of ��ݮ��Ƶ Scientia Professor Martin Green, who pioneered much of the technology underpinning solar panels, the fellowships will be open to distinguished international academics working on solving some of the world’s biggest problems.

��ݮ��Ƶ Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Attila Brungs said he was looking forward to welcoming the Green Fellows to Sydney.

“At ��ݮ��Ƶ, we’re deeply committed to driving positive societal change through world-leading research and global collaboration,” Prof. Brungs said.

“The Green Fellowship program embodies this mission, and we welcome the opportunity to partner with the world’s most exceptional international researchers whose work aligns with ��ݮ��Ƶ’s priorities to improve lives, create sustainable futures and strengthen communities.

“Named in honour of ��ݮ��Ƶ’s own solar pioneer Professor Martin Green, this program will further our impact as a global research leader tackling the great challenges of our time.”

The Program is open to distinguished academics whose research aligns with at least one of the four Impact Focus Areas in ��ݮ��Ƶ’s strategy:

• Accelerate the transition to a sustainable society and planet
• Advance economic and social prosperity
• Enable healthy lives
• Strengthen societal resilience, security and cohesion

The individuals who are selected for the Green Fellowship program will be hosted by a School or research centre, where they will be integrated into the ��ݮ��Ƶ community.

The Fellowship positions will be for a minimum of 12 months and up to two years, with the possibility of conversion to a continuing role. ��ݮ��Ƶ will cover salary and relocation costs. Eligible academics are expected to be at equivalent Levels C/D/E (Senior Research Fellow, Associate Professor and Professor).

Professor Bronwyn Fox, ��ݮ��Ƶ Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research & Enterprise, said ��ݮ��Ƶ had a proud history of attracting international talent.

Prof. Green said he was delighted and honoured that the University’s Fellowship program bears his name.

“Throughout my career I’ve had the privilege of working alongside brilliant minds from Australia and around the world,” he said.

“It’s this kind of deep collaboration, drawing on diverse perspectives and experiences, that enabled my team and myself to pioneer new pathways in solar and green energy.

“I see that same potential in the Green Fellowships, and I’m excited to see the meaningful and impactful outcomes of this global collaboration.”
